A PICTURE AND A PROMISE
II Corinthians 9:6

When the Bible was written, most families grew their own food for survival.
Today many of us plant gardens to grow food as well.
All of us can understand that the more seeds we plant,
the more food we harvest when the conditions are right.

In the case of this verse especially, we are exhorted to give (sow) of our abundance bountifully.

The next verse sets a standard for "how to give."
It tells us to give from a cheerful heart. (II Cor. 9:7)

This is the same standard whereby we share anything we have received from God.
It's always a free will giving.
It's not done "grudgingly:"  it's done out of love.

Is it done for a profit?  Yes, there's always a profit.
(God's Word never returns void.  Isaiah 55:11 )
II Corinthians 9:8 - 11 tell us the profit:
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you;
that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor:  his righteousness remaineth for ever.

Now he that ministereth see to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

God's promises are absolutely fantastic:
. . . all grace . . .
. . . all sufficiency . . .
. . . to every good work . . .
. . . enriched in every thing to all bountifulness . . .

So picture the perfect vegetable garden
complete with a cheerful (and well-fed) gardener
surrounded by well-wishers saying "Thank you."

Now put yourself in the picture as the gardener.
Finally, have fun sowing those seeds and working that garden
because the results are guaranteed.
