Daily
Psalm 145:2
Every day will I bless thee; and
I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
It is important that
we make time every day for God. To bless God and to praise God
you must first know God. Hebrews 11:6 says that "he that cometh to God must believe that
he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
God is made known by His Word. To bless Him every day we
must first spend time daily in His Word.
The Word of God
A man is blessed when:
Psalm 1:2
. . .
his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalm 119:97
O how love I thy
law! it is my meditation all the day.
Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that
they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so.
To know God and to
bless Him we must spend time searching and studying His Word. We
read it and search it for truth as did those who heard the Word from
Paul in Thessalonica. We delight in that Word and think about
it. We run it through our thoughts day and night.
Prayer
Daniel
6:10
Now when daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went
into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward
Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed,
and gave thanks before God, as he did aforetime.
Psalm 5:3
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look
up.
Mark 1:35
And in the morning,
rising up a great while before day, he [Jesus Christ] went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Psalm 63:6
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Luke 6:12
And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a
mountain to pray, and continued
all night in prayer to God.
In the Bible lands
regular breaks are taken throughout the day and are designated as hours
of prayer. In our culture the typical work day is broken up with
regular breaks. Why not make your regular breaks time for
God? What a difference it can make to your life and work.
Spending time with God throughout the day is a real practical
application of Colossians 3:23 "And
whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"
Fellowship with believers
Acts 2:46-47
And they, continuing daily with one accord
in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their
meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Praising God, and
having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the
church daily such as should be saved.
Hebrews 3:13
But exhort one another
daily, . . .
Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of
some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more,
as ye see the day approaching.
When it is
available to spend time with other believers daily you should take
advantage of the opportunity. God never wanted us to stand
alone. We are one body in Christ. We are all together the
dwelling place of God. We need each other to exhort and comfort
one another. We eat together, praise God together and share the
grace of God with one another. As we see the day of Christ's
return, we should do more to spend time with each other.
Speak the Word
Mark 14:49
I was daily with you in the temple
teaching,
Acts 5:42
And daily in
the temple and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach
Jesus Christ.
It is God's will
that all men be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of the
truth. That will only happen as we speak His Word. God has
given us the ministry of reconciliation and the Word to carry it
out. We need to spend time daily speaking God's wonderful Word to
others.
Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily
loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
