Matthew 23:37b . . . how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Psalm 36:7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. Psalm 61:4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

   Just as a hen gathers and protects her chickens under the shadow of her wing, God covers and protects us. We can trust Him just as the chickens trust the hen to be their strength and sufficiency. We trust God by trusting His Word which is our shield and our buckler.
