Magnify God
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. . .Acts 10:46

  II Samuel 7:26
And let thy name be magnified for ever . . .
Psalm 34:3
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 69:30
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 70:4
Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
In the Bible lands children are taught to write by drawing the word "GOD" in the sand with a stick. As adults they continued to magnify God by writing the word "GOD" at the top of every letter. When Jesus Christ was confronted with the woman caught in adultery, he stooped down and wrote on the ground. Most likely he was writing, as he had been taught as a child, the word "GOD" as he focused his mind on his heavenly Father and listened for Him to tell him how to respond.
On the day of Pentecost it became available for men and women to be born again and to speak in tongues. Those who heard the apostles speak declared that they were speaking "the wonderful works of God." They magnified God. When the Gentiles were first born again, Peter and those with him heard them speak in tongues and they declared that they heard them "magnify God!" I Corinthians 14:17 declares that speaking in tongues magnifies God by giving thanks well. Celebrate Pentecost and the new birth by speaking in tongues. It magnifies GOD!
