And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

"Two mules' burden of earth" is like saying "two truckloads of dirt." Naaman was not asking to take mules from Elisha. He wanted to carry dirt from the place where he was healed back to Syria. Sometimes this dirt was spread on the ground under a prayer mat or placed in a temple to remind the believer of the time and place that God responded to his believing action. Naaman was acknowledging that the God of Israel was the only true God and promising that he would worship only Him. He wanted a physical reminder of the true God to focus his mind on in a land that worshiped other gods.
