Quick, Powerful and Sharp

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In King James English the word "quick" means "alive." It is God's Word that is sharp enough to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart and powerful enough to give us life. By believing God's life-giving, powerful Word in Romans 10:9-10 we have been "quickened [made alive] together with Christ."
