Put Off Thy Shoes
Exodus 3:5
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

In the Bible lands and times, shoes represent ownership of land. A land owner has walked around on his land wearing his sandals. Therefore, when the land is sold or transferred, shoes are given to show that the land is being passed from one owner to another. (Ruth 4:7-8) The time and place where God meets man belongs to God. It is holy ground. (Joshua 5:15) Therefore, when God spoke to Moses, He told Moses to take off his shoes.
