The Record Book

John 21:24 and 25
This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things:
and, we know that his testimony is true.
And these are also many other things which Jesus did,
the which, if they should be written every one,
I suppose that even the world itself
could not contain the books that should be written.  Amen.

The verses above are true. They are the final verses of a gospel that is a record of Jesus Christ's life on earth as the Son of God.  What we read in the Bible are records, not stories.  A record is something that is true.  It's verifiable.  It really happened.  The Bible is "THE RECORD BOOK."

We certainly understand what records are in sports.  Sports fans know plenty of records and record-holders.  Athletes evaluate their own performance by measuring themselves against recorded statistics.

A story, on the other hand, can be a true account of things that have happened; but more often it means a made-up tale.  Many of our favorite childrens' stories are told in many versions.  Some of these tellings are widely different from each other.  And when in real life someone says "Oh, that's just a story," they mean that it didn't really happen.  They mean that somebody made it up:  they mean "Don't believe it."

But everything that is recorded in God's Word is something that really happened or will happen.  Everything is true.

I Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God . . .

God is the author of His Word, the Bible.
Everything he says or does is true.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man that he should lie;
neither the son of man, that he should repent:
hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken,
and shall he not make it good?

The verse also says that God doesn't "repent."
That means that He doesn't turn His back on His promises.
God doesn't take back what He has given.

This is also true:
John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.

It is RECORDED in God's Word

that we can do the works that Jesus Christ did
and greater works too.
It's the truth.

There are many records in the Bible about people who stood for God, who did things for God, who knew and trusted God.  When you read, make it real.  It really happened.

Let's get to know these records even better than World Records.
