GOD'S WORD WRITTEN IN COOKIES
YOU'LL NEED:
3/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Milk and 2 to 4 T. sugar or colored sugar
In a large bowl beat butter with electric mixer until soft and add 3/4 cup sugar until fluffy.  Add egg and extract.  Combine flour, baking powder and salt.  Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture.  Divide in half, wrap in each half in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.  Preheat oven to 375°.  For each cookie use 2 tablespoons dough.  On a lightly-floured surface roll each piece of dough into a 10-inch rope.  On ungreased cookie sheet shape ropes into letters.  Brush lightly with milk and sprinkle with sugar or colored sugar.  Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden.  With pancake turner lift cookies into cooling rack.  Makes about 24 cookies.

You can make a game of finding cookies that spell out S-I-T, G-O-D,
other important words, and scripture references.
