Thanksliving

1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

In EVERYTHING, give thanks.  This is God's Word.  This is God's WILL in Christ concerning YOU!  God wants us to live a life of thanksgiving.

Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Whatsoever you do and whatsoever you say.  Do ALL, giving thanks.  That is thanksliving!  This verse is set in the context of the renewed mind.

Colossians 3:8-9
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
   Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

We are to put off the old man with his deeds: anger, wrath, malice.  These are the opposite of "do all giving thanks."  The negative actions of the world which surround us every day are not actions which represent the life that we have been called to live.

Blasphemy, filthy communication, lying - these are the negative words which are characteristic of the old man and the communications of the world around us.  We are also called to put these off.

Colossians 3:12-15
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

These are the DEEDS of a thankful life.  We forgive as Christ has forgiven.  We put up with each other.  We are humble and meek.  We are kind one to another with great mercy as our heavenly Father is kind and merciful.  We love one another with the love that God gave us in Christ.  We LET the peace of God rule in place of the anger, wrath, and malice of the world.  This is the thankful life that we have been called, elected of God, to live.

Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;  teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

These are the WORDS of a thankful life.  LET the word dwell richly in you.  Walk in the wisdom of the words of God's Word.  Teach one another.  Admonish one another.  Singing songs and hymns with grace in your hearts! Sing in tongues (spiritual songs).  Whatsoever ye do in word - do with thanksgiving.

Philippians 4:6
Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

In EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving . . .  That is thanksliving.  With thankfulness, we make our requests in prayer to God.  We are not worried or anxious.  We let God take care of all of our needs and we thank Him for His care.

Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
