Why Man?
What did God make first?

Why did God make the stars, sun, and moon?

[After the earth was made] Genesis 1:14-16 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament [expanse] of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament [expanse] of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. [AFTER HE MADE THE EARTH!!!]

Psalm 19:1-2 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

If the earth is the reason for the universe, what is the reason for the earth?

Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them.

If the earth is the reason for the universe and man is the reason for the earth, what is the reason for man? Ephesians 1:3-5,9,11 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children [sonship] by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

These wonderful truths regarding our Father's plan for sons and heirs are repeated in two of the other uses of the Greek word huiothesia - sonship:

Romans 8:15-17 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but the ye have received the Spirit of adoption [sonship], whereby we cry, Abba [daddy], Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons [sonship]. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba [daddy], Father.

Why Man? - To fellowship with God: to be His sons and to be His daughters. The great purpose of God in creating the earth and the universe was to provide a loving home for His children in which we could get to know God and fellowship with Him as His children.
